How HTV Silicone Rubber Is Processed
HTV silicone rubber is supplied as a high-consistency compound and selected according to the molding or extrusion process used by the customer. Cure conditions, compound handling and post-curing requirements vary by formulation.
Yakows supports material selection for compression molding, extrusion, transfer molding and other heat-curing production processes. For stable mass production, curing temperature and time should be taken from the selected product TDS rather than treated as one fixed value for all HTV silicone rubber.
Moldagem por compressão
Common for O-rings, gaskets, pads, buttons, keypads, electrical parts and general molded components.
Extrusão
Used for profiles, cords, seals, tubing, wire and cable insulation and other continuous silicone products.
Transfer Molding
Suitable for selected compounds and more complex molded structures where controlled material transfer is required.
Specialized Molding
Electrical insulation and composite-insulator production can require application-specific equipment and cure systems.
Where Is HTV Silicone Rubber Used?
Yakows HTV silicone rubber serves both conventional molded-product markets and specialized electrical insulation applications. The material grade should be matched to the actual service environment instead of selecting only by hardness.
Why buyers choose HTV silicone rubber
- Reliable weather and UV aging resistance for outdoor service
- Stable elasticity across a wide working-temperature range
- Electrical insulation options for power-industry applications
- Multiple grades for sealing, molding, extrusion and special compliance needs
Borracha de silicone HTV para isoladores compostos
Yakows HTV silicone rubber has been used in outdoor composite-insulator projects where long-term electrical reliability, hydrophobicity, UV resistance and mechanical durability are critical. Below are two representative project cases already presented on the Yakows website.
Russia – High-Voltage Composite Insulator Project
Yakows worked with a leading Russian utility company on a high-voltage composite insulator application. The project required a silicone housing material capable of maintaining stable insulation performance under severe outdoor climatic conditions.
The insulators were exposed to extreme seasonal temperature fluctuations of approximately -40°C to +40°C together with long-term ultraviolet exposure. These conditions increased the risk of surface aging and reduced reliability of conventional silicone coatings over time.
Yakows supplied HTV silicone rubber selected for strong hydrophobicity, tracking resistance and thermal stability. Its tear resistance and elongation also supported efficient molding around complex insulator sheds and cores, helping improve processing and assembly consistency.
According to the customer feedback published on the Yakows site, the project achieved lower leakage-current occurrence and reduced maintenance frequency, while improving long-term reliability under harsh climatic conditions.
India – Outdoor Composite Insulator Project
A major Indian transmission operator required an HTV silicone rubber solution for outdoor composite insulators installed in a demanding transmission environment with frequent moisture exposure and contamination.
Pollution accumulation combined with frequent wet conditions increased the risk of flashover on outdoor insulators. The customer needed a silicone material that could maintain surface hydrophobicity and reliable dielectric performance through monsoon conditions and hot-season operation.
Yakows HTV silicone rubber was selected for hydrophobicity transfer, tracking resistance and UV-aging stability. Its flexibility and mechanical strength supported coating and molding around complex insulator geometries, while its thermal and dielectric properties were suited to outdoor transmission service.
Based on the existing Yakows case description, the customer reported reduced maintenance downtime, improved flashover performance and longer insulator service life after using the HTV silicone rubber solution.
HTV Silicone Rubber vs Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR)
Yakows supplies both HTV and LSR. The main difference is not simply temperature resistance: the two materials have different physical forms, mixing systems and manufacturing processes.
| Recurso | HTV / HCR Silicone Rubber | Borracha de silicone líquida (LSR) |
|---|---|---|
| Formulário de material | Solid, high-consistency compound | Two-component liquid silicone system |
| Typical Processing | Compression molding, extrusion, transfer molding | Liquid injection molding |
| Sistema de cura | Peroxide or platinum depending on grade | Primarily platinum-catalyzed addition curing in a heated mold |
| Material Handling | Solid compound; may require preforming or mixing according to process | Metered and mixed as a two-component liquid system |
| Aplicações típicas | Industrial seals, profiles, molded parts, electrical insulation and composite insulators | Precision molded medical, consumer, food-contact and technical components |

- Required Hardness Specify your target Shore A hardness, acceptable tolerance and whether softness, sealing pressure or structural stiffness is the priority.
- Método de processamento Compression molding, extrusion, transfer molding or other production process.
- Sistema de cura Confirm whether peroxide curing, platinum curing or a customer-specific cure requirement is needed.
- Performance Targets Temperature exposure, tensile strength, tear strength, elongation, electrical properties, flame resistance or anti-yellowing performance.
- Compliance & Documentation Confirm required FDA, LFGB, RoHS, REACH, PAHs, UL-related testing, TDS, SDS or COA before material approval.
TDS, SDS, COA & Compliance Support
For B2B material evaluation, technical documentation should be connected to the exact HTV silicone rubber grade rather than presented only as general company certificates.
Depending on the product and project, Yakows product pages currently reference support for documents and compliance including TDS, SDS, COA, RoHS, REACH, FDA, LFGB, PAHs and UL-related flame-retardant requirements.
